Join Harney Elementary’s students, staff members and families for a celebration of the school’s new outdoor learning space! This event, which also will include a safety fair, is free and open to the public.
Over the past two years, the Harney Elementary PTO has worked in collaboration with nature+play designs; community volunteers; and Harney students, families and staff members to develop the space on the school’s grounds.
With the construction of a paved walking path, a nature-play area and an outdoor classroom, the space will provide opportunities for integrating learning with active time spent outdoors for Harney students, as well as provide an inviting outdoor space for the local community.
The funds raised at two consecutive annual benefit auctions hosted and run by Harney PTO volunteers supplied the nearly $60,000 needed for the design, contracting, supplies, grading and paving of the space. This, along with the countless hours contributed by skilled Harney community volunteers, has made this project a true community undertaking, for the benefit of all.
