What is Career Connected Learning?

Career connected learning allows students to explore and prepare for a broad range of careers.  The school district forms partnerships with local businesses to bring mentors to the classroom or students to the workplace.  There is a broad variety of career connected opportunities and ways to get involved from guest speakers who discuss their career pathway to business internship programs. It is our goal to forge a partnership between students, schools and local employers where everyone makes an investment and all receive value.

Some types of career connected learning are guest speakers, job shadows, mock interviews, mentoring, internships (along with flipped internships where the company comes to the classroom), worksite tours, career fairs and youth apprenticeships.

Are you interested in being a guest speaker or participating in a mock interview? Need help starting an internship program? Email nina.stemm@vansd.org and learn how you can partner with VPS to create career pathways for students!
