Elementary and middle school students from Vancouver recently competed in the National History Bee and Citizenship Bee in Chicago, Illinois.

Jason Lee Middle School’s Andrew Douglas reached the finals in the seventh-grade division of the National History Bee, placing 45th overall. Douglas also placed second in the Citizenship Bee. His teacher is Cheryl Miller.

Other VPS students competing included Eisenhower Elementary students Satchel Baskette, Oliver Konez, Isabelle Haskin-Ponton and Dylan Kopitzke. Their teacher is Jan Keenan. Kegan Davenport, representing Lake Shore Elementary, also competed. His teacher is Debbie Mitts.

These students earned their trip to nationals after competing in the local and regional History Bees.
