Instructional technology facilitator (and former classroom teacher)

Years with VPS: 33Jim Jeffers, VSAA, ITF, weLearn 1:1

Most memorable career experiences: Helping create the Eagle’s Wing program at Hudson’s Bay High School in the early ’90s, opening the doors of Vancouver School of Arts and Academics in ’96 and every time I gave one of my advocates their diploma aft er being their advocate for seven years at VSAA.

One thing I’ve learned: To help remove barriers and get out of a student’s way. We guide them, closely at first. Then we need to move to the side, and eventually behind them as they create their unique path.

Words that describe me: Compassionate, caring and understanding. Also, “school-dad.”

When I’m not working, I: Play with my dogs, play with my grandkids and plan our next roadtrip.

While teaching at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, Jim mentored Steven Goforth, now a professional dancer.
