In 2010 and 2011, the Washington State School Directors’ Association named the VPS board of directors the Board of the Year. This is the fifth year of the WSSDA Board of Distinction Awards program. Each year, several school boards throughout the state are selected as Boards of Distinction, and the highest-scoring board is recognized as School Board of the Year. Vancouver’s board has been named a Board of Distinction for all five years, which earned the board a Special Merit Award for 2013.
