Perth, a yellow lab, is a popular member of Chinook Elementary School. “Perth is the perfect bridge with students and parents,” said Cathy Kreger, school counselor. “She has a great personality and she’s wonderful with the students and staff members.” Perth (she was born in Perth, Australia) is a licensed, registered therapy dog. Perth is a calming influence for the students Cathy works with. Students read to Perth, they walk her when they need a break from the classroom, and they spend time with her as a reward for good behavior. “Perth is the glue in the room,” said Cathy.
