What is Vancouver Rising Educators?

Vancouver Rising Educators (VRE) is a program designed to help recent VPS graduates become teachers. This unique program combines employment, education, and group support to ensure participants succeed.

What are the benefits of VRE?

  • Pathway to Teaching: Paraeducators can become certified teachers.

  • Support: Clear pathway and group support to achieve teaching goals.

  • Teaching Endorsement: Opportunity to specialize and receive a teaching endorsement.

How does the program work?

Participants in the VRE program work full-time as substitute paraeducators at VPS. They also attend Clark College to study for an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Participants can further pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education to become certified K-8 teachers in Washington State, specializing in Multilingual Education, Special Education, or Early Childhood Education.

Who can participate?

  • Recent VPS Graduates: High school graduates who participated in the Dual Language or Careers in Education CTE program and are interested in becoming teachers in the VPS community.
