Elementary programs and schools for students grades K-5
Neighborhood school
Neighborhood schools are exactly that – typically located very close to your home and in your neighborhood. Your child will attend school with the children who live near your home. Neighborhood schools provide families with opportunities to build relationships and a strong community inside and outside of school with their neighbors. Neighborhood schools are the traditional option for our enrolling students.
There are 21 elementary schools in the Vancouver Public Schools district serving neighborhoods across the city. Please see our boundary map to view the school boundaries for your neighborhood school.
If you need help locating your neighborhood school, please call our student welfare department at 360-313-1330 or email student.welfare@vansd.org.
Dual language and language immersion programs at neighborhood schools
Our Spanish/English dual-language programs teach students to become bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. Students are a half-and-half mix of native English speakers and native speakers of the target language.
Spanish/English Dual-Language programs are offered in the following schools:
Our Mandarin language immersion program is offered at:
All students must apply for the dual-language programs and language immersion program, even if this is their neighborhood school.
Students who live in a neighborhood school’s boundaries are given preference, followed by other students in the district hoping to join the program.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg Elementary (RBG)
Ruth Bader Ginsburg Elementary is our full school Spanish/English dual-language program. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a school of choice and is open to students across the district with no “neighborhood school” boundaries.
Students are selected using a lottery system.
Vancouver Innovation, Technology & Arts (VITA)
Vancouver Innovation, Technology and Arts Elementary is a project-based learning school of choice with a focus on innovation, technology, arts and the development of downtown community partnerships that enhance student learning.
Students are selected using a lottery system.
