Hudson’s Bay High School junior Christopher Gilbert, also known as Gomer Sparhawk, won first place in the 2019 Congressional STEM App Challenge for Southwest Washington’s 3rd District. His app, Jump Quest, is based on parkour, and he turned to his fellow students for testing before he submitted the app.
Next Gomer will be invited to showcase Jump Quest at the United States Capitol during the annual #HouseOfCode festival held in the spring. Benjamin Brewer is his teacher/adviser.
Sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives, the Congressional STEM App Challenge encourages middle and high school students to learn to code and pursue careers in computer science. Apps can be developed in any programming language and for any device. Winning apps are chosen by participating representatives from each congressional district.
