Hudson’s Bay, Columbia River and Skyview high schools earn top spots

VPS Knowledge Bowl teams earned honors at the regional and state competitions held, respectively, Feb. 27 in Longview, Washington, and March 18 in Arlington, Washington.

After placing second at the regional meet, Hudson’s Bay High School’s team finished sixth in the 3A competition at the state meet. Coached by Eric Saueracker, the team includes Ethan Mayers, Connor Maxwell, Jack Kearney, Adam McBroom, Emma Langley and Sofia Tarchi.

Columbia River High School’s junior varsity team won the JV regional championship. The team is made up of Levi Condren, Cameron McKedy, Aine Jordan and Abby Kinney. David Douglas is their coach.

Skyview High School’s team finished first at the 4A regional competition and qualified for the state tournament. The team includes Cody Settje, Utsav Kapoor, James Hess, Coach Bob Brands, Peter Brown, Captain Austin Bryant and James Muse.

Knowledge Bowl tests high school students’ familiarity with a broad range of subjects, including math, science, history, languages, literature, music, geography and topical issues.
