For adopting more active lifestyles, students and staff members at three Vancouver schools nabbed top honors in the Fire Up Your Feet Southwest Washington Spring Activity Challenge.
- Walnut Grove Elementary School won first place and was named Rookie of the Year. The school received $1,250.
- Felida Elementary School also was named the Rookie of the Year, as well as the Activity All-Star, and received $750.
- Truman Elementary School received the Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day Award and $500.
Fire Up Your Feet is a core program of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, which advocates for safe walking and biking to and from schools and improved health and well-being for children.
