This week, students at VPS elementary schools are participating in the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America, joining the nation’s largest celebration of reading.

First-grade students, their families and younger siblings are invited to a “Beaches, Bites and Books” themed event at their school. Families are served breakfast and each student received a book. Events are being hosted at 23 school locations and welcomed nearly 1,800 participating students.

We would like to thank our community partners for making this program possible through their generous donations. Breakfast is provided and served by Beaches Restaurant. Riverview Bank and Amerigroup funded the purchase of a book for each student through the Foundation for VPS.
