Dr. Rocky Torres-Morales

Dr. Torres-Morales is a 21st-century progressive educator who began his career as a bilingual special education teacher in the New York City Department of Education. Subsequently, he worked as a school administrator in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Currently, he serves as the Associate Superintendent for Seattle Public Schools. Dr. Torres-Morales has coached educators and provided numerous professional development sessions focused on multilingual education, curriculum, equity, mindset, Restorative Practices, instruction, and community voice. Throughout his career, he has worked with diverse learners and demonstrated the ability to meet goal targets and consistently increase student achievement, particularly for those traditionally most marginalized.

His research interests include equity & inclusion, student motivation, community voice, multilingual education, social-emotional learning, and achievement. He has presented at regional and national conferences and has been published in the American School Board Journal online. Dr. Torres-Morales has been licensed as an Interventionist Specialist, bilingual endorsed educator, Principal, and Superintendent in the State of Ohio, in addition to a Washington Administrator’s Certificate in Washington state, a Superintendent’s License in the state of Illinois, and a Superintendent Qualification Letter in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Dr. Torres-Morales is also fluent in Spanish with a working proficiency in French.

Dr. Torres-Morales earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a double major in International Business in Economics & Spanish and a minor in French from Ohio Northern University. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Baldwin-Wallace University. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Education degree with an emphasis on Bilingual and Special Education from the City College of the City University of New York. He also holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the Bank Street College of Education in New York City. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education from Cleveland State University.
