Vancouver Public Schools students excelled at the recent SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kentucky.

From Fort Vancouver High School, Andrew Martinez, Esmy Espinoza and SkillsUSA adviser Andy Berhow represented Fort’s SkillsUSA chapter as a Model of Excellence winner, one of 24 chapters honored out of more than 400 submissions.

Fort’s Opening and Closing Ceremonies team (Cristian Ruiz, Ethan Ralph, Brett Young, Savannah Moffett, Diana Villalobos, Toni Pridemore and Morganne Guier) placed 10th and earned a Skill Point Certificate for meeting or exceeding the cut score.

Liya Savochka from Fort placed fifth in Medical Terminology and also earned a Skill Point Certificate.

Fort’s Melina Doan placed 23rd in Restaurant Service.

Columbia River’s Rylan Manning and Ryan Hatley

Jayden Richards of Fort placed 28th in T-Shirt Design. His design was screened at Fort by teacher Michael Wade and worn by the entire state delegation at nationals.

In addition, Columbia River High School’s Rylan Manning and Ryan Hatley took seventh place in Television (Video) Production. Trey Hartzell placed second in Customer Service. Their SkillsUSA adviser is Janine Blackwell.
