Student artists from across Southwest Washington submitted nearly 230 entries for the region’s 2019 High School Art Show, hosted by Educational Service District 112. Judges evaluated each piece’s originality, composition, emotion and technique. The following pieces by Vancouver students are among those that received special recognition:
“Parrot” by Fernando Carrillo, Fort Vancouver High School Center for International Studies
Carrillo’s work is one of 17 selected for Regional Awards, which indicate the highest average scores. Next month, these pieces will compete against entries from across Washington in the State Superintendent of Public Instruction Art Show.
“Up Close” by Jordan Mundy, Hudson’s Bay High School
“Up Close” is one of 16 pieces that earned ESD 112 Awards.
“Tranquil Waters” by Marceline Wilson, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics
“Tranquil Waters” also is an ESD 112 Award winner.
“Remnants of Spring” by Destie Huey, Hudson’s Bay High School
Huey’s work is one of 17 that received honorable mentions.
“Half Half” by Alberto Marin, Hudson’s Bay High School
Marin’s “Half Half” also is the recipient of an honorable mention.
The award-winning artworks are on display through March 27, 2019, at ESD 112, 2500 NE 65th Avenue in Vancouver.
The student artists will be recognized at a reception at ESD 112 on March 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
