The replacement educational maintenance and operations levy for Vancouver Public Schools appears to be passing easily. The initial election results, announced February 9, revealed 70.4 percent “yes” votes. Ballots are still coming in. Final election results will be announced by February 19, 2016. A 50 percent majority of “yes” votes is needed for approval.
The community has supported a local maintenance and operations levy for Vancouver Public Schools since 1964. This replacement levy—which is not a new tax—will provide local funding for basic programs and services through 2019.
