Annika Epperly of Skyview High School recently was named one of 16,000 semifinalists from across the U.S. for the National Merit Scholarship. Semifinalist status is attained based on score on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The total number of semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of high school seniors nationwide.

Along with Advanced Placement courses and classes in Skyview’s Science, Math and Technology magnet program, Epperly attends drawing classes, competes on Skyview’s robotics team and designs award-winning apps. She plans to attend a four-year university and major in computer science. She hopes ultimately to combine her interest in computer science with her love of drawing, perhaps in architecture.

Said history teacher and robotics coach Luke Glassett, “Annika is hardworking, dependable, reliable, organized, persistent and consistent in everything she pursues, whether it is academics or personal interests.”

Next, Epperly will have an opportunity to compete for finalist status and earn a National Merit Scholarship in spring 2019.
