This is the second consecutive year that ESD 112’s award was given to a VPS teacher. Last year, Fort Vancouver High School’s Bethany Rivard received the honors. Hudson’s Bay High School’s Eric Saueracker received it in 2013 and then-Skyview High School teacher librarian Mark Ray took home the title in 2012. Ray went on to become Washington state’s Teacher of the Year as well. The distinction went to then-Fort Vancouver teacher Ken Roberts in 2010 and then-Alki Middle School teacher Katie Hebner in 2009.
