Working to reach an agreement
Vancouver Public Schools is in negotiations with Service Employees’ International Union, Local 925. SEIU represents many transportation, nutrition services, trades, grounds, maintenance and custodial staff members, as well as pool operators and district resource officers. We value these employees and their hard work, and we look forward to reaching an agreement.
We also take seriously our role as stewards of taxpayers’ money. At a time when we’re facing a multimillion-dollar budget deficit, we must continue to plan carefully for our schools’ financial future while negotiating fairly and transparently.
In 2018 and early 2019, we settled contracts with two separate employee groups, the Vancouver Education Association and Vancouver Association of Educational Support Professionals.
