If the Feb. 14 bond measure is approved by voters, initial design work would begin immediately. The construction schedule prioritizes eligibility for state assistance funding and completing projects on time and within budget. The scope of the ambitious timeline is anticipated to be six years, from February 2017 to 2022, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Architectural designs and permitting for Vancouver iTech Preparatory, Marshall Elementary and McLoughlin Middle School would begin in spring 2017. Improvements and upgrades at several schools would begin in summer 2017 and continue throughout the six-year timeline. Preliminary work for Lieser Campus and Ogden and Truman elementary schools also would begin in 2017.
All other projects, including two new elementary schools, replacement schools and classroom additions, will be scheduled in order to complete all projects within the six-year time frame as shown below.
Update Nov. 19, 2019: The district intends to hold community forums at Anderson, Hazel Dell, Minnehaha, Eisenhower and Walnut Grove elementary schools this winter to share information and listen to community feedback on the need for a new elementary school, which was slated for construction on district-owned property at NE 25th Avenue.
