With a little teamwork, Skyview set a national high school record in funds raised by bell ringing for the Salvation Army during the 2016 holiday season.
From the Fred Meyer Salmon Creek store, Skyview’s Key Club raised $9,730.62, earning them the national first-place award for Key Clubs. The Skyview girls’ and boys’ basketball teams also joined in and together raised $2,879.59, bringing the school’s total to $12,610.21.
The Key Club officers are Kelly Ann Tran, president; Emily Liu, vice president; Holly Hronek, secretary; Bruce Erickson, treasurer; Maura Martin, editor; and Douglas Graham, webmaster. Their adviser is Elyse Azorr.
Hanna Van Nortwick, Riley Friauf and Sydney Friauf are the girls’ basketball leaders.
Taylor Harbertson, Skyler Martin and Jovon Sewell led the boys’ basketball team’s bell-ringing efforts.
This is the second year that Skyview has set a national record. In 2015, the Key Club raised nearly $10,000.
