Routine radon testing was completed at GATE, Marshall and the Lieser Campus on Feb. 28, 2019.
Radon is measured and reported in picocuries per liters of air (pCi/L). The U.S. EPA action level is greater than or equal to 4.0 pCi/L. The U.S. EPA recommends reducing the concentration of radon in indoor environments below the radon action level.
Initial results indicate elevated levels in one or more rooms:
GATE | Lieser Campus | Marshall Elementary |
---|---|---|
Room 101: 5.2 pCi/L | Room 42: 5 pCi/L | Media center: 5.1 pCi/L |
Room 104: 4.7 pCi/L | Room 39: 3.6 pCi/L | Media center duplicate: 4.2 pCi/L |
Room 104 duplicate: 4 pCi/L | Room 39 duplicate: 4 pCi/L | |
Room 103: 5.5 pCi/L | ||
Room 105: 7.1 pCi/L |
We are taking steps to improve ventilation in these areas and will retest when the work is completed in the next two to three-weeks. We will provide the results after retesting.
April 15 update: Resting results show that levels are now below 4.0 pCi/L.
