Medical Arts
About the Medical Arts Program
The Medical Arts program of choice is a three-year program that focuses on building knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for careers in the healthcare field. Students will focus on health, wellness, science, math, technology and medicine as a central theme. The four core classes include:
- Allied Health I
- Allied Health II
- AP Psychology for Health Professionals
- Athletic Medicine II
Students in the Medical Arts program of choice who are in good academic standing at the end of their sophomore years will be eligible to participate in four hours of job shadowing in their junior and senior years.

- Clinical practitioner or specialist
College Credits
Our Medical Arts students may also earn up to 17 Clark College credits that are part of the Health Sciences core and will prepare students to enter directly into one of many Clark College Certification programs including:
- Pharmacy Technician
- Medical Billing and Coding
- Medical Receptionist
- Medical Transcriptionist
Upon graduation, Medical Arts students have the skills and base knowledge to continue in a technical or two/four-year college experience.

Requirements for a medical arts endorsement with honors
- Official acceptance into the program
- Good attendance
- Completion of core classes and fieldwork
- Four science credits (Physical Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology or Human Anatomy and Physiology)
- Four math credits
- 40+ hours of community service within the health care field
Requirements for a medical arts certificate of participation
- Official acceptance into the program
- Good attendance
- Completion of majority of core classes
- Meet VPS graduation requirements
Certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- HIV certification
