Four VPS schools win Washington Achievement Awards

Eisenhower, Harney and Hough elementary schools, as well as Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, were among the more than 400 schools statewide that earned Washington Achievement Awards for 2014.

The recipients are among the highest performing schools in the state based on three years of academic information as reported in the Washington Achievement Index.

The four VPS schools were recognized in the following areas:

Eisenhower

English Language Acquisition
Reading Growth

Harney

High Progress

Hough

High Progress

VSAA

Overall Excellence

Principals of the above schools are Doug Hood, Eisenhower; Lucy Estrada-Guzman, Harney; Eva Unger, Hough; and Jim O’Banion, VSAA.

The award-winning schools will be honored during an award ceremony on April 28 at Spanaway Lake High School in Bethel School District.
