VPS helps its own

Students and staff members donated record amounts to the Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools in the nonprofit’s annual campaign.

District-wide, the staff pledged nearly $162,600, a 10 percent increase over last year.

Students collectively raised more than $57,800, the largest contribution in campaign history and a 7.6 percent increase over the previous school year’s campaign. The schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels that donated the most per capita were Fruit Valley Community Learning Center, Alki Middle School and Skyview High School.
